The winners of the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Graduate School's Research Images as Art/ Art Images as Research competition were announced at a reception on 6 December 2007.

PhD student Tim Long (¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Slade School of Fine Art) took the first prize of £250 for 'Faciality 1-3' and Andrew King (¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Anthropology) was awarded the second prize of £200 for 'Death in the Desert'.

A further four prizes worth £150 were awarded to the runners-up - Laurent Bozec (¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Eastman Dental Institute) for 'Bacterium on Gelatine', Sophie Haines (¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Anthropology) for 'Fiesta Flags', Rishin Patel (¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Mechanical Engineering) for 'A Different World' and Audrey Tan (¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Slade School of Fine Art) for 'The Unconscious'.

Director of the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Slade School of Fine Art, Professor John Aiken, chaired the judging panel. He said: "When asked for our opinions, it was a very difficult decision to pick the finalists. The quality of entries was very high. I noticed this year that people made a real effort with their titles, many having a poetic and romantic edge. More than 260 entries were received from seven faculties, so it does represent the work that is going on across the university."

You can still vote for your favourite to receive the 'People's Choice' prize by visiting the exhibition in the Cloisters until 14 December 2007.
