¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Museums and Collections features as one of the 13 cultural organisations on the route of London's Museum Mile.

The Museum Mile brings together a selection of museums, galleries and libraries in a tour from the British Library on Euston Road to the Courtauld Gallery by the Thames.

¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Museums and Collections is a dynamic and growing service, which has won national awards. It houses over half a million outstanding artefacts and specimens across arts and science disciplines. Ìý

¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's museums include the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology and the Grant Museum of Zoology and feature extensive collections spanning Sir Francis Galton's pioneering work, art, archaeology, geology, ethnography and science. Some of the artefacts on display include the world's oldest dress, the first fingerprinting equipment, Dodo bones, work by Turner, Constable and Rembrandt, prehistoric pottery, volcanic rock, African jewellery and the first x-ray used for clinical purposes.

Celine West, Head of Learning and Access for ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Museums and Collections, said: "All of our collections are used for teaching and research, and we also hold a great number of events for schools and the public. The collections have so much to offer, so we are very keen to share our wealth of artefacts with a widest possible audience, and being part of the Museum Mile will help us do that through increased publicity."
