Press cutting: Korean firm backs UK stem cell labs

The business arm of ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº has teamed up with South Korean company Sewon Cellontech to establish new laboratories that will develop clinical cell therapeutic treatments for cartilage repair and bone fracture healing.

The ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Institute of Orthopaedics & Musculoskeletal Science (¹û¶³Ó°Ôº IOMS) at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust (RNOH) will be the location for the new stem cell regenerative medical laboratories.

The techniques deployed will use stem cells derived from the patient's bone marrow and cartilage tissue, potentially eliminating the need for radical surgery. …

It is envisaged that, with the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº IOMS and its world-leading academics, other cell therapies will feed into the new facility for the benefit of future patients. All of these therapies will be clinically trialled at RNOH.
