Lecture: New Danish Cinema

11 January 2007

Professor Mette Hjort, Professor of Visual Studies at Lingnan University, Hong Kong, and ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Visiting Professor of Scandinavian Studies, will give a public lecture on 'The New Danish Model for Filmmaking: A Cultural Resource for Small Nations' in the Gustave Tuck Lecture Theatre on Wednesday 17 January.

Professor Mette Hjort

Professor Hjort will describe the emergence over the past twenty years of the strikingly successful New Danish Cinema in terms of cultural policy and artistic leadership. She will also show that key elements of the Danish model are transferable to other national contexts, making it a precious resource for many other small nations that struggle to establish a genuine presence within a global media culture.

All are welcome to attend. The lecture will start at 5pm and will be followed by a reception held in the South Cloisters.
