World ranking rise for ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº

Shanghai Jiao Tong University's latest annual Academic Rankings of World Universities indicates that ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's place among the world's leading universities has risen again.
¹û¶³Ó°Ôº is now ranked:
- 22nd in the world, up from 25th in 2007
- third in Europe, up from fourth in 2007
- first in London, up from second in 2007.
In the study's 2008 analysis of subject areas, ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's global ranking rose from 17th to 13th in 'Clinical Medicine & Pharmacy' and from 3rd to 2nd place in the UK. In 'Life & Agricultural Sciences', ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº rose from 24th to 19th globally, and held 3rd place in the UK.
¹û¶³Ó°Ôº President and Provost Professor Malcolm Grant said: "These new rankings confirm ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's strengths - and steady improvement - on the global stage. We know that the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº community conducts excellent research and teaching, but it is their commitment to applying that excellence to the world's major problems that make us London's global university."
