Sara Clarke, a PhD student at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Psychology, is presenting 'The People Watchers', a BBC Two social psychology series that starts on Monday 28 January.

Sara co-hosts the show with three qualified psychologists, including Professor Richard Wiseman (¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Psychology 1988) and Dr Jack Lewis (PhD ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Anatomy & Developmental Biology 2005).

'The People Watchers' is a 20-part programme that aims to explain why people behave the way they do by performing experiments involving members of the public. The presenters then explain the psychology behind their actions.

In the first episode, to be broadcast on Monday 28 January at 1.30pm, the psychologists investigate how people relate to authority-figures in uniform and the practice of tipping in Britain.

Sara auditioned for the job following the production company's approach to ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Psychology. She said: "I had never had any TV experience before nor any aspirations to work on television, but filming the show was great fun and it was fantastic to work in industry having been in academia all my life."

The programme will be aired every weekday for four weeks from 1.30-2.15pm (2-3.15pm on Wednesdays). To find out more about 'The People Watchers', follow the link at the top of this article.
