Members of the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº community are invited to the 11th ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Institute for Global Health Symposium, 'Coming of age for adolescent health', on 9 September 2009.

Young people have traditionally been seen as healthy and low users of health services. In the modern era, the pressures of economic development and social change have particularly impacted on young people, increasing mortality and ill health at a time when younger child mortality has decreased rapidly.

Speakers and panellists will include Dr Russell Viner (¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Institute of Child Health), Professor George Patton (University of Melbourne), Professor Susan Sawyer (University of Melbourne) and Professor Sir Michael Marmot (¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Epidemiology & Public Health), presenting new data on adolescent and young adult health globally and discussing the challenges for global health policy to improve the health of young people. Professor Anne Johnson, Co-Director of the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Institute for Global Health, will chair the symposium.

Audience participation is a key aspect of these symposia.
