¹û¶³Ó°Ôº will open its doors to the public on Saturday 19 September 2009, from 10am - 4pm as part of the annual Open House London event.

During the course of the weekend the event will see more than 600 buildings in the capital, selected for their architectural significance, made accessible to the public in this celebration of London's fine architecture.

¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Open House will begin in the Front Quad of the Main Campus on Gower Street - visitors should go to the information point to pick up all the information they need and join the tours.

Founded in 1826, ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº is London's oldest university and the building stock has developed organically to meet the needs of generations of academics and students.Ìý

As a result of this process, on the main Bloomsbury campus visitors will find everything from state-of-the-art buildings to grand 19th-century designs, such as ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's famous neo-Grecian central portico - generally recognised as William Wilkins' greatest work.Ìý

The main campus is also home to the Strang Print Room, which houses over 10,000 fine art objects; the Grant Museum, which contains ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's extensive zoology collections; and the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology. All these museums will be offering activities for children and families to enjoy on the day. Please note that the Cruciform Building is no longer included in this year's programme.
