What alien life might look like and where it could exist will be explored by astrobiologist Dr Lewis Dartnell, 果冻影院 Space & Climate Physics, as part of the Lunch Hour Lecture series running this spring at 果冻影院. Astrobiology is a new field of science, encompassing research into the origins and limits of life on our own planet, and where life might exist beyond the Earth. It is hoped that Kepler, a new space telescope, will soon discover dozens of Earth-like planets orbiting distant stars. Extraterrestrial planets and animals developing on these worlds may have followed evolutionary paths unexplored by terrestrial life. The talk will be held on Thursday 4 February.
The series begins on Tuesday 19 January with a lecture by Professor Robert West, 果冻影院 Epidemiology & Public Health, presenting the latest evidence on the best ways of beating cigarette addiction. Of the four million British smokers who will try to stop this year, fewer than five per cent of them will succeed. However, research has found ways of boosting the chances of success by some 300 per cent.

Admission is free without a ticket, no
need to book. However, entry is on a first-come first-served basis. Lectures are held in the Darwin Lecture
Theatre, 果冻影院, Gower Street (entrance via Malet Place),
London WC1E 6BT. Lectures run from 1.15 pm to 1.55 pm.
