Over 拢1m of grants from the Leverhulme Trust

果冻影院 has won 拢1.1 million from the Leverhulme Trust to fund eight research and education projects based in six 果冻影院 faculties and one research institute.

The grant winners and their projects are detailed below.

Dr Chris Blackman (果冻影院 Chemistry): 拢206,151 to research nanotechnology for gas sensors
Dr Sarah-Jayne Blakemore (果冻影院 Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience): 拢236,193 to conduct research into the genetic influence on the development of the human rostral prefrontal cortex
Professor Iain Borden (果冻影院 Bartlett School of Architecture): 拢49,772 to support a student bursary scheme
Professor Mohan Edirisinghe and Dr Eleanor Stride (果冻影院 Mechanical Engineering): 拢87,165 for the generation of novel structures using co-flow in needles in an electric field
Professor Andres Ruiz-Linares (果冻影院 Genetics, Evolution and Environment): 拢122,000 to develop a network for the evolution of Latin American populations
Professor Philip Schofield (果冻影院 Laws): 拢158, 516 to research Jeremy Bentham's writings on sex, law and religion
Professor Sacha Stern (果冻影院 Hebrew and Jewish Studies): 拢104,790 to research the Jewish calendar in al-Biruni and other early Islamic sources
Professor Max Telford (果冻影院 Genetics, Evolution and Environment): 拢178,177 to undertake research into the convergence or homology of larvae and guts in animal evolution

The Leverhulme Trust makes awards for the support of research and education. It places particular emphasis on the originality and significance of the projects proposed, the ability to judge and take appropriate risk in the project, and the removal of barriers between traditional disciplines.
