Four ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº scientists elected to the Academy of Medical Sciences

  • Four of ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's leading medical researchers have been recognised for excellence in medical science with their election to the Fellowship of the Academy of Medical Sciences:

    • Professor Phillip Beales (¹û¶³Ó°Ôº ICH Molecular Medicine)
    • Professor David Hawkes (¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Medical Physics and Bioengineering)
    • Professor Eleanor Maguire (Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº)
    • Professor Andrew Phillips (¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Infection and Population Health)

    Professor Sir John Tooke, ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Vice-Provost (Health), paid tribute to the expertise of the new Fellows, noting: "I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate my colleagues who have been elected to the Fellowship of the Academy. It is a measure of their standing and contribution to medical science and is richly deserved. This recognition demonstrates once more the diversity of talent and the outstanding intellectual environment at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº."

    Academy Fellows are elected for outstanding contributions to the advancement of medical science, for innovative application of scientific knowledge or for their conspicuous service to healthcare.
