BLOO ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Week 10 - 14 October

7 October 2011

All this week, BLOO ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº will be raising awareness about issues surrounding water sustainability and ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº students are invited to play an active role.

BLOO ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº

BLOO ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº is a project that has been commissioned by ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº and implemented by BLOO Nation, a team consisting of former ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº student Lola Pedro and architects Guillaume Jounet and Remy Bardin, who was the winner of Green ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's sustainability competition in 2010.

The week will revolve around an Alternate Reality Game which is open to all and will be played across multiple platforms. It will be a real-life scavenger hunt, taking place in the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's modified BLOO-themed front quad and across multiple media platforms. By taking part in the game, participants will learn about the concept of embedded water. Embedded water is the term given to the total amount of unseen water used to produce goods and its impact on the water crisis.

Lola Pedro, who last year completed her Masters degree in Technology Entrepreneurship at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº, explained: "BLOO ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº opens by offering a free coffee on Monday to those who find and approach the gentleman with the BLOO handkerchief in the quadrangle. There will also be golden envelopes and objects scattered around the quadrangle that will provide clues for participants to successfully complete the challenges posed throughout the rest of the week in order to win the grand prize of an iPad."

"Everyone can identify with water, as it is a fundamental source of life. It takes 140L of water to produce a standard cup of black coffee, therefore we hope to bring some otherwise unheard of issues to light in a fun and memorable manner, so that people are able to live more sustainably and make smarter choices."

The winner of the challenge will be announced during a closing event on the 27 October, allowing the participants and those interested in water sustainability to meet and find out more about ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº turning BLOO.
