Academy of Medical Sciences Fellows 2015

Five researchers from across ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº SLMSÌýhave been recognised for their contribution toÌýthe advancement of medical science by election to the Fellowship of the Academy ofÌýMedical Sciences.

Academy of Medical Sciences ÌýProfessors Peter Brocklehurst, Frances Brodsky, Diana Kuh, Catherine Law and Alan Thompson joined the existing Fellows of the Academy to bring the total membership to 1134.

The independent Academy of Medical Sciences promotes advances in medical science andÌýcampaigns to ensure these are translated into benefits for patients. Academy Fellows are elected for excellence in medical research, for innovativeÌýapplication of scientific knowledge or for their conspicuous service to healthcare.

"The Academy of Medical Sciences champions the excellence and diversity ofÌýmedical science in the UK, and this is clearly demonstrated in this year's cohort ofÌýnew Fellows. Their broad range of expertise and fantastic achievements to dateÌýshows just how strong the Fellowship is. Their election is a muchÌýdeserved honour, and I know they will contribute greatly to the Academy. I amÌýdelighted to welcome them all to the Fellowship, and look forward to working withÌýthem in the future."

The new Fellows will be formally admitted to the Academy at a ceremony onÌýWednesday 1 July 2015.
