Postgraduate Research

The Cancer Institute, draws together research teams at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº which focus on Cancer Biology and Translational Research, Experimental Cancer Therapeutics, and Clinical Cancer Studies. The Institute is a cross-disciplinary entity with over 150 PhD students researching aspects of cancer, oncology, pathology and haematology. You can apply at any time and we accept students in September, February and May. Your first step is to find a supervisor and funding. We have over 130 excellent supervisors and you can find information about potential supervisors (publications, projects, and other research activities) in the research sections of our department pages. Please get their agreement to supervise you before putting their name on your application. You can find their email address in the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº staff directory. You are welcome to approach the research team supervisors directly if you have a funding source or idea, alternativelyÌýnew scholarships appear below regularly throughout the year.

Once you have an agreed supervisor and funding, you can apply either to the generic Cancer PhD programme or the department of the PhD supervisor - pathology, oncology and haematology. They are all registered at the CI and are under the same programme.Ìý
